Robert Russell gifts two enslaved people to his daughter Tabitha Long: Polly (20 years old), who was already hired out to Tabitha’s household, and Joseph (16 years old, described as a dark mulatto) under the condition that Tabitha’s husband Richard can not hire them out or use them to discharge any debts. To make “equal distribution” of his assets, Robert also requires that Tabitha and Richard pay his sons-in-law Joseph Freeland and Thomas M. Allen sixty dollars.
