Lend A Hand – Leave Your Mark

Volunteers help make history possible at Wornall/Majors.

Volunteer in Kansas City

Whether you are interested in volunteering weekly or a few times a year, Wornall/Majors can use you. We need volunteers with a wide variety of skills, from leading tours to event prep to fundraisers.

Our Volunteer Needs

Docents (Tour Guides)
Docents lead guided or self-guided tours at the Wornall and/or Majors House. The average time commitment is 2 tour shifts per month, each lasting 2–3 hours. Shifts are available Wednesday through Sunday, year-round.
Event & Field Trip Volunteers
Special event volunteers assist with field trips, educational programs, and fundraising events. Duties may include setup and cleanup, helping with crafts and activities, selling raffle tickets, or greeting guests at check-in. We’ll gladly match your skills and interests with the right event.
Junior Volunteers
Children ages 6–12 can participate by dressing in period costume during special events. Teens ages 13 and older can train as junior docents. Volunteering offers students a great way to complete school or club service requirements in a fun, welcoming setting. WMHM has also hosted high school interns.
Special Project Volunteers
From grounds maintenance to painting and preservation projects, we occasionally need help with one-time projects. If you have special expertise or skills to share, we’d love to hear from you!
Corporate or Organizational Volunteers
We welcome companies and community organizations to our sites for group volunteer activities. Typical projects include gardening, spring cleaning, and organizing supplies.
